Welcome to NWM @ BVE4.NET, the home of the Network West Midlands routes for the freeware train driving simulators OpenBVE and BVE Trainsim 4.

The NWM suite of routes are a highly detailed fictional railway, with scenery based on real life locations around the Birmingham and West Midlands area of the UK. Current route distance is circa 140km. Operations are realistic with various track and weather conditions, AWS, TPWS, and high quality signalling. 


  • NWM routes and diagrams are diverse. From the 125mph electrified mainline, to DMU operated local services linking towns of industry, to winding single track rural branchlines; express, commuter, railtour, and freight operations are included. 

  • NWM is completely free, and available to download from this site.

  • NWM is an ongoing project so please check back for further updates and expansion.


Route Map


OpenBVE is a new FREE OpenGL program. It will run trains and routes built for BVE Trainsim 2 and BVE Trainsim 4 but features many enhancements over these programs. Please visit the OpenBVE homepage to download OpenBVE and for help and guidance.

BVE Trainsim 4 is a FREE  Direct 3D Cab View train driving simulator, made in Japan by Mackoy. It offers a realistic cab view, excellent sound, and very good train physics. Although originally limited to Japanese routes and trains, there is now extensive English language support, and routes and trains available from just about every continent in the world.

If you've not got BVE Trainsim 4, then please visit our help pages for details of how to download this  programs and get the simulator up and running.

The simulator features sway around curves, rocking whilst braking, and the bump of pointwork and rail joints.  The downloads on this site will work on either BVE Trainsim 4 or OpenBVE.
